Organizations
Families for Early Autism Treatment (www.feat.org)
Several families in Sacramento, with support from personnel at the ALTA California Regional Center, founded this pioneering parent advocacy group in the early 1990’s. Additional FEAT chapters have formed around the nation. Particularly in Sacramento, FEAT has been instrumental in changing public policies on EIBT, and continues to provide invaluable support for families with children with autism. If you live in the Sacramento area, immediately contact your local FEAT mentor.
Association for Science in Autism Treatment (www.asatonline.org)
ASAT’s website contains a wealth of information on the scientific validity of different services currently provided for children with autism, how to avoid questionable or unethical interventions, and how to choose a service provider.
